Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Ginger is doing well but itching her ear again, we kept her away. She stayed inside for her leg and because of other dogs, but dressed up as a bow tie monster. It will be two more weeks before we get more news of what cancer she had, but they’ve run more tests and so it far it looks as though it hasn’t spread! Should we start her physical therapy soon?

There isn’t much more to say, she’s been jogging a little and we’ve let her. Is this okay? About what should we be doing at this stage?

Thank you for all your help, happy late Halloween!

  1. Hi Keira! Happy belated Halloween! I love Ginger’s bow-tie. She is extra adorable in it. To answer your questions:

Yes, get her into physical therapy as soon as you can. Most therapists like to see dogs within 10 days of surgery. It’s never too late though. Clinics have long waiting lists at this time so have your folks start calling around. And if you’d like help finding one just let us know.

As for her walking. The therapist is the best person to direct you on her limitations and abilities. But for now, while you wait, just do a few minutes at a time. Shorter, more frequent walks throughout the day are better than one or two long walks. And if she ever sits down or wants to rest on a walk or while playing, that’s a sign she’s overdone it. If that happens, cut back her activity for the next few days and start up again but at about 1/4 of the time she was playing when she pooped out. Hope that makes sense!

Great pupdate, always a joy seeing her and hearing from you.

    1. I’ve been busy and had trouble popping in, but thanks for the advice as always. We’ll get her signed up immediately, and please do recommend a clinic close to Southlake, Gingy hates driving in the car. Nothing much has happened with her over the last week, but I’ll post when we get her into physical therapy! Maybe in the meantime I can catch another video of her walking.

  2. She’s a mighty pretty “Bowtie Monster”! Too sweet and gentle to be any type of “monster” at all.
Yep, good pupdate indeed. As usual Jerry gave great insight.

    1. Thanks, as I said in the video she hated her costume, but it was good for a few pictures 😀 I’ll post another update when she gets into physical therapy!
